美国《Engineering News-Record》杂志公布了2014年150家全球顶级设计公司（“2014 ENR The Top 150 Global Design Firms”）排名，在上榜的中国设计企业中，建筑设计企业共5家，分别为中建设计集团（第47位）、上海现代建筑设计集团有限公司（第58位）、上海同济大学设计研究院（第68位）、香港AEDAS设计公司（第106位）、CCDI悉地国际设计公司（第115位）。中国中建设计集团有限公司（简称中建设计集团）名列第47位，较去年排名提升6位，首次进入150家全球顶级设计公司的前50强。中国工程勘察设计行业共有23家企业上榜（内地22家，香港1家），主要来自交通、水利、铁路、石化、机械、石油、电力、建材等行业，且多为大型工程公司。

”全球工程设计公司150强“以设计企业的全球营业总收入为排名依据，重在体现设计企业的综合实力。”国际工程设计公司225强“的排名依据设计企业在本土以外的海外工程业务总收入，重在体现设计企业的国际业务拓展实力。在这两项排名榜单中，水电顾问集团作为工程、咨询类企业排名继续跃升，在全球工程设计公司150强中排名第12位，较去年15名上升3位；在国际工程设计公司225强中排名第38位，较去年上升59名晋21位。在全球工程设计领域，欧美众多实力强劲、发展历史悠久的设计企业长期占据前位，水电顾问集团排名榜单前列，表明其综合实力和业务拓展能力已经跻身全球设计界的龙头地位，成为行业发展的重要领导者和推动者。
